WIRED 4 contains a version number with the following format 4.a.b.c, where a, b and c are numbers, and b and c are optional. The versions compare using a normal numbering scheme where version 4.5.3 is newer than version 4.5.2, but older than version 4.6.
Any number a, b or c can be replaced by a word, such as "alpha", "beta" or "rc", where "alpha" comes before "beta" comes before "rc", which is before the .0 release.
Version 4.0.0 is equal to 4.0
